- Sometime in late 1999: Cygnoir visits Gamescape North for the first time, where FunkyPlaid is the manager. They meet and are friendly acquaintances whose social circles mostly do not overlap.
- 12 June 2003: In a fit of loneliness, Cygnoir searches LiveJournal’s directory for people her age in San Rafael. FunkyPlaid is the only result. Since they already know each other somewhat, Cygnoir emails him. They become friends — and eventually fall for each other — two months before FunkyPlaid leaves for his graduate studies in Scotland.
- 30 June 2007: After years of no contact, Cygnoir emails FunkyPlaid to apologize for her long silence. They reunite on the eve of their friends’ wedding. FunkyPlaid promptly runs off to the UK again (but he comes back a month later). And so their romance finally begins in earnest …
- 3 May 2008: Cygnoir moves in with FunkyPlaid.
- 11 October 2008: FunkyPlaid proposes to Cygnoir at Saddell Castle. The answer is a resounding yes!
