    A Year On

    Posted in: Pictures

    Today is a good day, one year from the event of our wedding. As a very generous anniversary gift, even amidst all of her packing and moving and shuttling cats from here to there and then over to here, Cygnoir has seen to it that the cream of the wedding picture crop was finally added to Plaid et Noir. We present them now for your perusal as interest and curiosity strike you. To this moment, neither of us regret any aspect of the event, and we remain ever-grateful for the presence there of our loved ones.

    The second year starts now, far away and in a different country, but our memories still flirt with these pictures as if it’s all still happening.

    Dear Friends;

    The entirety of last weekend was an absolute delight, and surely the very best experience of our lives to date. Everyone involved was nothing but wonderful, and as the fervent planning-madness gave way to oh-my-goodness-it’s-really-here, we were buoyed and spoiled by your warmth, kindness, and love. Every day since the ceremony has been nothing short of head-shaking as we take stock of our wonderful friends and family and what you’ve offered to us on this occasion. We again thank you for everything you are and everything you’ve done.

    We’re writing you now from our favorite cafĂ© in Portland, the first leg of our honeymoon journey through the Pacific Northwest. So far, it’s been a mad rush of (over)sleeping and (over)eating in one of the most wonderful cities to which we’ve yet been. There was a reason we traded out our plans of a European honeymoon for some time in the nearer and more familiar Portland area, and we’re so comfortable and happy here that we feel like we could relocate tomorrow. But large plans await involving sheep and archives and surely a few hundred calorie-laden meals of fish and chips. Still, Portland is staying prominently on our map for whatever lies ahead.

    Before we continue northward to the environs of Seattle, we wanted to remind folks that our photo page is live and awaiting your pictures of the wedding and surrounding events. We welcome you to post anything you like, either via our Flickr group or through our MobileMe gallery, so that everyone can view them in the coming days and weeks. To these, we’ll be adding other pictures, videos, and a slideshow featuring the amazing photography of Cate Corbitt.

    If you need any assistance getting your shots uploaded or prefer us to do it for you, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we’ll be more than happy to oblige. See you on the picture page soon!

    We would be remiss if we did not enumerate all of our spectacular resources. We earnestly believe in supporting and expounding upon local businesses, artistic friends, and fine products for the senses. Please patronize the following individuals and companies that have made this event a delight.

    Special thanks to Evan Sornstein for his graphic design of the printed materials, Courtney Patubo for her portrait photography, and Jeffrey Martz for his custom bookmaking.

    Dear Guests;

    We are delighted to know that you’ll be joining us for the big wedding day, which is now just around the corner. Thank you for getting back to us and also for taking the time away from home, work, and – for some – even state and country to celebrate with us. We couldn’t be more excited to see you very soon for an outstanding party!

    In addition to the wedding ceremony and reception on Saturday evening, October 16th, we’re planning a couple of other get-togethers that form a kind of bookend on each side of the event. Because sometimes friends and family on both sides of a marriage don’t yet know each other very well, this will give us an opportunity to meet up, have some laughs, and share with you some of our favorite things around the Bay Area. For those who would like to join in, the information is below. We only ask that you contact us as soon as you can with your intention to be a part of it, whatever part or parts that might be.
